Double Elimination Brackets – 20 Team Max
INFO:
Double Elimination – Teams are matched-up in a bracket format and any team that loses two games is eliminated. The winning teams continue to play until a winner is crowned. There are many creative ways to organize double elimination games. Here’s the most typical example:
Example: If you have twelve teams, have the teams play each other in the first round – Team 1 vs. Team 2, Team 3 vs. Team 4, and so on. The winners go to the winner’s column and the loser to the loser’s column. At the end of the first round you will have six winners and six losers. In the second round, reward the winning teams by matching-up the winning teams against the losing teams – Winning Team 1 vs. Losing Team 1, Winning Team 2 vs. Losing Team 2, and so on. Continue to play and eliminate teams with two losses. In the event that you have an odd number of teams playing, reward the team with the highest winning point margin with a bye.
CORNHOLE RULES:
Boards are placed 27 feet from front edge to front edge.
Games are played to 21 on the dot! No overs, you have to hit 21 to win. (no bust aka back to 11) For example: If you have 19 and you score 3 you start back at 19 the next round.
Woody: Refers to any cornhole bag that has been pitched and remains on the cornhole board playing surface at the conclusion of the frame. Each woody is 1pt.
Cornhole: Refers to any cornhole bag that has been pitched and passes through the cornhole board hole at any time within the frame. Each cornhole is 3pts. A bag that comes to rest touching the ground AND the board does not count as a point.
Cancellation Scoring: The approved method of scoring for the sport of cornhole is “cancellation” scoring. In cancellation scoring, the points of one player cancel out the points of their opponent. Using this method, only one player/team can score in each frame.
Both players play one board at a time and stay in their designated lane for the whole game (right or left). Players start the game at one board and alternate pitching bags until each player has pitched all (4) of their bags.
Players must deliver the bag with an underhanded release.
Feet must stay behind the line of the front of the board at the time of releasing the bag.
The player/team who scored in the preceding frame pitches first in the next frame. If neither player/team scores, the player/team who pitched first in the preceding frame shall retain first pitch in the next frame.
If bags become piled inside the hole and may interfere or obstruct with the next pitch or if there is question whether a cornhole bag would have naturally fallen through the hole, a player may request to rake the cornhole bags that have fallen inside the hole.
Any cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct you will kindly be asked to leave and you will be eliminated from the match. This is a family friendly event so please be kind and have fun!
